Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

This role will be located at San Tan Mountain Regional Park! We host several million visitors a year, connecting people with nature! As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform various maintenance tasks to maintain a clean, safe environment in County Parks and recreation facilities and grounds.

We Require

  • One year of general maintenance, custodial, or building maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or GED

We Also Value

  • Two or more years of general maintenance, custodial or building maintenance experience
  • Experience in a natural desert park and recreation setting
  • Experience working with computer use on a regular basis with word processing and spreadsheet programs
  • Certificate related to facility maintenance such as plumbing, HVAC, or related discipline

Job Contributions

  • Perform facilities maintenance activities including, but not limited to: cleaning and maintaining restrooms, ramadas, and other park locations; painting interior and external structures, graffiti removal; installing road and trail signage; completing minor irrigation and plumbing jobs, including changing and repairing leaks and replacing plumbing fixtures; fence repair and installation; and minor electrical repair
  • Perform landscape and vegetation maintenance, including trash collection, tree pruning, weeding, erosion control, and other natural desert and trail maintenance
  • Safely operate and perform general maintenance and basic repair of power equipment, septic systems, and water systems
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting visitors, providing park information, answering visitor questions and collecting entry fees
  • Operate a backhoe or small tractor
  • Provide direction to probationary, conservation or other work crews in manual labor tasks
  • Provide assistance with emergencies in the park, rescues, or basic first aid
  • Other Job Duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
  • Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs.
  • The work will occur in an office and field environment
  • While performing the duties & responsibilities, the employee may be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, dust, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations
