The Critical Gender Studies Program is housed in the Department of Ethnic Studies at UC San Diego (UCSD) and they are both key centers of empirical and theoretically-based research, outstanding teaching, and creative collaborations that promote gender equality and social justice. The two units offers an innovative vision of the post/colonial world and its peoples for the 21st century. The faculty and students focus on fundamental theoretical and political questions regarding the critical conceptualization of social categories, particularly race, indigeneity, culture, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class and nation. They engage and elucidate alternative epistemologies that have emerged from racialized and indigenous communities in a U.S. and transnational context in order to produce new knowledges for the academy and broader public. The Ethnic Studies Department and Critical Gender Studies Program are committed to rethinking these issues in a comparative, relational, and interdisciplinary fashion in order to interrogate questions of power, violence and inequality. Responsible for the administrative management in all matters pertaining to the Critical Gender Studies Program (CGS), a small and exciting program on campus. Serves as academic advisor for CGS majors and minors (detailed knowledge of college and departmental emphases and requirements) as well as graduate students in the CGS graduate specialization. Responsibilities include counseling students individually and in groups; developing and implementing the program's informational and graduation events; participating with colleagues in coordination and implementation of new student orientation/registration programs. Evaluate preliminary and final degree checks; in consultation with the director, create the teaching matrix and update it as changes occur, conduct course scheduling and registration, add/drop procedures; draft, revise, update course approvals to correspond to the current teaching practices and CEP regulations; write, evaluate, and revise a wide range of written materials, including general catalog copy, program brochures, honors brochures, and program website; plan and implement various undergraduate and faculty meetings and events; serve as primary program liaison for undergraduate students with Registrar's Office, CEP, and other campus officials; coordinate all lectures, conferences, workshops, program meetings. Maintain all program files, course archives and program and course statistics. Represent all programs at University Functions. Exercises independent judgment and maintains confidential information. Demonstrated ability to assess problems, conduct appropriate research and follow-up, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for action. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and exercise good judgment.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
