As a Neurodiagnostic Technician 2 ensures accurate diagnostic results while preparing patients for and conducting routine/special END procedures such as ambulatory/neonatal exams, long-term video electroencephalography (EEG) testing, evoked potentials, and neuro monitoring. Conducts diagnostic and investigative studies in the Outpatient Laboratory, at the bedside, and in critical care units on all ages of patients served by the department, WADA's, Junior Neurodiagnostic Technicians, and END students by explaining procedures or demonstrating the proper maintenance of equipment.

Hours: 8:00am - 8:30pm

Schedule: (3) hours shifts M-F with on call and holidays

Job Responsibilities


  • Schedules appointments, greets patients/families and provides testing instructions.
  • Assists in monitoring quality improvement and the development/revision of Neurodiagnostic procedures and standards while serving as a role model/resource to Neurodiagnostic Technologist.
  • Performs complex electroencephalography (EEG) recordings including routine and/or portable EEG, neonatal EEG, cortical silence EEG and continuous bedside EEG monitoring by utilizing knowledge of EEG instrumentation and pattern recognition.
  • Positions patients/provides patients comfort by measuring and accurately applying electrodes in a timely manner according to the International 10-20 System.
  • Performs 24 hour Ambulatory EEG including editing of results by utilizing special training and resultant expertise in the recognition of ictal and inter-ictal electrographic patterns.
  • Writes a comprehensive patient history by gathering appropriate information from patients, patients' records and/or family members to include audiological or neurological symptomatology and medications.
  • Performs Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential studies by utilizing knowledge of audiologic instrumentation and pattern recognition as well as Visual Evoked Potential studies.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of patients at all times while identifying and seeking appropriate assistance for any emergency events.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Certification - Basic Life Support; Successful completion of Board examination and obtaining credential a Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) is required

Licensure - None required

Experience - 3 years of experience in the Neurodiagnostic or a Neurophysiological field; Experience performing advanced EEG/evoked potential studies

Education - High School or GED Graduate from an accredited program for Electroneurodiagnostic Technology. Registry as a Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T) is required
