"I can succeed as the Data Governance Senior Manager"

As a Data Governance Senior Manager within the Enterprise Data Office, you will oversee and provide strategic direction to direct reports and other associates in a matrix environment to mature and apply data governance standards and best practices across the enterprise. You will partner with the Enterprise Data Office and Line of Business (LOB) leaders across Capital Group's (CG's) investment, operating and client groups to align stakeholders and drive adoption in a positive and thoughtful manner.

Below are the primary responsibilities of the role:

-You will extend and enhance existing Enterprise Data Governance Processes

-In close partnership with Global Risk Management, Legal and Compliance, Information Security and Line-of-Business leaders:

  • You will lead the adoption effort for enterprise data governance policies, including data use, data retention, metadata management and data quality management

  • You will ensure adherence to regulatory mandates and security, privacy, and risk policies

  • You will reinforce the trust and confidence of our investors and clients

  • You will define, maintain, monitor and enforce enterprise data governance principles, standards, procedures, controls, and models in support of CG's data strategy

  • You will support the resolution of data quality issues affecting multiple functional & operating groups, including initiation of special projects to support resolution

  • You will define and mature the measurements and KPIs used to evaluate the effectiveness of enterprise data governance efforts organization-wide

  • You will embed Enterprise Data Governance in organization-wide practices, standards, and controls

-You will enhance standards in Strategic Sourcing procurement and contracts and vendor/partner management practices to enforce data management requirements

-You will monitor and act as an escalation point in data acquisition to prevent duplication of sourcing third-party data assets (i.e., across market data, client group, etc.)

-You will partner with the Enterprise Change Office to further integrate data governance practices in organizational change and project execution methodologies

-You will coordinate with Information Technology Group to identify control points and enabling processes and standards to be incorporated into software delivery lifecycles and frameworks

-You will coordinate with Data Literacy Lead and Talent Development to implement specific training in support of enterprise-wide adoption of data owner and steward roles and responsibilities.

-You will strengthen data governance engagement in data operations incident and problem management, leveraging and enhancing existing standards for known defect remediation and proposed control enhancements.

-You will lead execution of the Enterprise Data Governance operating model in and across LOBs and regions, including the following:

  • You will facilitate the adoption of enterprise data governance standards and best practices by LOB, IT and Data Product teams

  • You will drive the business glossary and associated technical metadata content within enterprise data governance tools

  • You will monitor and review the ongoing effectiveness of the Data Governance operating model

  • You will analyze and make recommendations on issues related to data profiling methods, business requirements definition, data quality rule design and reuse, and associated measurements

  • You have 10+ years of experience contributing to the definition of an enterprise data governance operating framework that links the accountabilities of data owners and stewards clearly to business value

  • You have 10+ years of experience defining data governance standards for data quality controls across the full data lifecycle, identifying opportunities for improvement at each stage of the data value chain

  • You have 8+ years of experience developing a highly skilled data analyst/specialist team, within Financial Service/Asset Management industry

  • You have 8+ years of experience developing leaders and driving associate engagement throughout the team

  • You have proven yourself as a leader that can build high performing data governance teams, fostering an innovative, collaborative culture of continuous improvement and excellence

  • You enable teams to build optimal data governance policies, procedures, best practices and data frameworks

  • You have 10+ years of change management experience leading successful transformations in the financial Services industry

  • You have strong experience researching and defining adoption paths for advanced data quality detection and prevention methods, including use of statistics, anomaly detection, machine learning and AI

Southern California Base Salary Range: $171,968-$292,346 New York Base Salary Range: $182,310-$309,927

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
