This position includes the responsibilities of a Chief Engineer and expands it to include additional operational management and leadership of a broader team with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and effectively operating equipment and systems in a cost-effective manner. The Chief Engineer often deputizes for a facility or operations manager to support more strategic and client facing activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the client's needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of 100% uptime throughout the engineering team. Responsible for protecting and improving the value of the client's assets and ensuring that buildingengineering systems continue to perform their intended functions. Identify the maintenance objectives of the facility and incorporate those objectives into a documented plan that includes preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance procedures. Supervise and manage engineers and maintenance staff including hiring, training, and personal development. Responsible for advance training, including GxP, and notification to all contractors so that they are informed and knowledgeable with respect to critical functions and the work they are to perform, including an incident contact response list. Ensure that all work on GxP or critical systems follow client and JLL policies and procedures and is properly documented. In conjunction with management, establish a program for the acquisition, storage and accountability of all operating materials, tools and equipment. Establish a customer approved inventory control system. Supervise the performance and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical and craft services, ensuring safe and compliant operation within design capabilities and achieving proper environmental conditions. Perform site walks and follow up on action items to ensure corrective issues are addressed and corrected. Provide training and support aimed at expanding the capabilities of the operations staff. Ensure training and qualifications for staff are current and properly documented in client or JLL quality systems, as applicable. Ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines related to the operation of building infrastructure and other in scope work. Responsible for alerting management of any discrepancies or non-conformances. Assist in the development of a capital plan which includes planning for infra-structure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure future capabilities are maintained. Assist in managing the Operations Audit process under the direction of the respective Regional Engineer and/or any account engineering leadership. Responsible for ensuring that major projects performed are properly planned, executed and closed out in accordance with standard industry practices. Maintain all infrastructure and compliance documentation for the site(s) including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law. Maintain equipment, operating budget in accordance with yearly budget. Ensure direct reports meet key performance metrics and succession planning is in place. Pro-active planning for upcoming equipment/infrastructure needs, reduce reactive maintenance/repairs. Manage direct reports schedules and PTO to ensure required coverage. Support other client projects or requests as needed. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Two years college ore equivalent trade school or engineering apprenticeship equivalent. Minimum 10 years of work experience in facilities maintenance and operations. At least 5 years of supervisory experience. GMP/GXP operational experience desired. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES Operating Engineers license or equivalent. Universal refrigerant certification (or within 90 days of employment). Boiler Operators license or equivalent |
