PURPOSE:
The Manufacturing Equipment Systems Engineer performs functions associated with leading edge MEMS equipment, Assembly & Test equipment and equipment management systems. We are seeking a tech-savvy, hands-on individual to apply their education and past experience to solve new problems. The successful candidate over time will want to gain an understanding of the existing fleet, draw from their experience to solve various electro-mechanical issues the maintenance team or process owners need help to solve and support owners to put long term corrective actions in place. You will cross train and eventually take ownership in partnership with our IT team of the equipment database being used at Livermore site and other sites in the US. The data base schedules PM's, tracks job compliance, provides at-a glance factory status and enables statistical reporting. Part of beating the learning curve will include partnering with the existing owners to drive the upgrade to the latest HTML version or new equipment management system.
This position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (on-site in Livermore) and will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support to the Manufacturing Engineering activity by recognizing, prioritizing & acting on improvement opportunities, pioneering new ideas and finding innovative methods to accomplish goals.
- Partner with Equipment owners to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical equipment issues, employ long term repairs and communicate status and recovery plans throughout the issue resolution process.
- Able to coordinate with equipment vendors to seek debug support, plan upgrades, solve issues or new equipment acquisitions as required
- Own and manage DPR (Disaster, Prevention, Recovery) activities such as imaging and organizing equipment hard drive back-ups for the fleet
- Own, manage and host audits on our Fab Equipment calibration program to ensure Critical instruments are always in calibrated good condition.
- Partner with the existing owner to learn the existing Equipment management system; Equipment additions & removals, Factory layout changes, PM job creation and modifications, State model and effects on equipment availability, reporting functions.
- Take a leadership role to update our equipment management system to the latest version, pull together training documentation and partner with IT team on commissioning the latest system.
- Support Equipment owners on hardware/Software interface to recipe Automation servers
- Update & create a recipe automation field guide for the maintenance team to effectively be first responders and coordinate with IT team when there are recipe automation issues; Own second level escalation support.
- Submit IT tasks and partner with web app developers to update & modify factory MES system interface to Equipment management database.
- Project manage & participate in fleet expansion at various sites peers relative to the equipment management system.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS:
- BS in Electrical or mechanical engineering plus 5-7 years or equivalent experience in Semiconductor or equivalent technology equipment engineering
- Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills as related to manufacturing issues.
- Able to work with limited supervision, is self-directed, and has a methodical approach to solving technical problems.
- Familiarity with mechanical machined parts, CAD component & assembly drawings.
- Able to use hierarchy BOM structure to determine parts required for equipment repair or upgrades
- Have solid computer skills on a variety of windows versions or equipment interfaces
- Software experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point; Excel Macros, AutoCAD (JMP & MySQL are a Plus).
- Familiarity with AC/DC drives, Pneumatic/Hydraulic systems, vision inspection systems, Servo systems and other types of inspection and assembly equipment.
- Use hand tools including wrenches, dial indicators, calipers, thermal measurement devices & standards, voltage/current meters, oscilloscopes and other various equipment technology specific tooling.
- Working knowledge of addition, multiplication, algebra, and equipment statistics such as Uptime, Utilization, MTBF, etc..is a Plus, but can be learned
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Familiarity with clean room procedures and protocols.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasionally sitting, standing and working in a clean room environment for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.
- Office environment
- May be required to work overtime and weekends when the job demands it - based on commitment to objectives
- Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
- Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
- Moderate to loud noise level
The pay range for this role in Livermore, CA is between $132,600 and $178,815. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
