Job Description

Under the direction of the Lead ERM Analyst, the Risk & (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) SOX Analyst will be a dynamic position that will support Risk, SOX, and Internal Audit activities, including monitoring business line risk assessments, collecting and analyzing key risk indicators, performing internal audit/SOX control testing, and developing actionable management reporting. In short, the role is designed to help execute, advance, and mature the Bank's risk, audit, and SOX programs. The incumbent will play a key part in working with business units across the Bank to reinforce the Bank's risk culture and help improve policies, processes, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Support various Risk, Internal Audit, & SOX-related activities with data collection, analyses, and reporting.

    • Collect and analyze key Risk-related data. Analyze trends over time with various internal and external tools available (e.g., Dashboards, S&P Global, Analytics).
    • Perform internal audit and SOX-related testing to assess and analyze the appropriateness of the design and functionality of key controls and documentation (e.g., risk matrices, process narratives, workflows) for the Bank's internal controls over financial reporting.
    • Support tracking, monitoring, and reporting of Risk, Internal Audit, and SOX-related activities.


  • Assist with the design and delivery of risk, internal audit, or SOX-related training, as needed.
  • Assist in developing corrective action plans to better manage or mitigate risk or control deficiencies. Generate weekly and monthly MIS reporting around key risk and SOX metrics to Management and coordinate internal Risk & Compliance monthly MIS packages.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring the Bank's Enterprise Issue Management Program.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration with others across the Bank, building positive and constructive working relationships, supporting the Bank's strategic plan, and demonstrating the Bank's core values.
  • Assist other Risk & Compliance team members with various assignments, as needed.

Experience and Skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • Highly-motivated professional who can handle multiple, cross-functional tasks, adapt to change, and work well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment - independently and in a team
  • Familiarity with banking, specific expertise in risk, audit, SOX, and/or internal controls
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer and technical skills and the ability to quickly learn and apply new technology
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite; advanced Excel skills (complex formulas, macros, etc.) preferred
  • Demonstrate and promote high ethical standards and behaviors
  • Maintain a professional manner at all times
  • Exhibit a culture of teamwork, transparency, and collaboration

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a risk, audit, or related function.
  • Minimum education requirement: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in banking, considered a plus.
  • Professional certification (CIA, CRMA, CERP, CBA, CPA) or desire to pursue certification preferred.
