DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Join the Residential, Retail and Supply Chain Services (RRSS) team at UC San Diego, a dynamic and innovative campus department dedicated to delivering exceptional service to the university community. As a valued RRSS team member, you will be contributing to a broad and complex organization consisting of five key units: Housing, Dining and Hospitality (HDH), Integrated Procure-to-Pay Solutions (IPPS), the UC San Diego Bookstore, Triton Print & Digital Media, and the Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). With a focus on innovation and customer satisfaction, RRSS aims to inclusively meet the diverse needs of the UC San Diego community while fostering a sense of belonging for our students and staff.

As a member of the HDH team, you will be part of a self-funded unit with over 900 staff employees, 1,000 student employees, and an annual operating budget of $250 million, providing housing and dining services to over 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and their families. POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Custodial Operations Administrator is independently responsible for the administration and direct management of housekeeping services on two campuses. This includes establishing and implementing policy, budget development, resource management, and ensuring quality customer service. The incumbent is responsible for the development of long and short range planning for assigned Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) - facilities as it relates to the provision of custodial services, the coordination of annual summer renovation projects, resident move-out and move-in processes, summer conferences, emergency response, and special projects.

The incumbent receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Recommends changes to unit or sub-unit policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Demonstrated experience in administration and management.

  • Solid knowledge in custodial and housekeeping services.

  • Effective interpersonal and work leadership skills to provide guidance to other personnel. Ability to manage remotely.

  • Ability to recruit, interview, hire, manage and supervise effectively the work of others including setting and meeting performance goals, conducting performance appraisals and providing training for the staff.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in financial management. Ability to prepare short and long range financial forecasts.

  • Solid decision making and reasoning skills, ability to develop original ideas to solve problems, and perform operations analysis and quality control analysis. Demonstrate skill and knowledge in strategic planning, including the ability to develop and implement a strategic plan, goal, policy, and procedure.

  • Intermediate computer application skills. Ability to use Microsoft Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Publisher and Outlook).

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills in the English language, active listening, flexibility, critical thinking, multi-tasking and time management.

  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in a busy, service oriented office atmosphere with frequent interruptions, varied work assignments, and fluctuating priorities while meeting deadlines.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Overtime and weekends may be required.

  • Current State of California Driver License and clean driving record required to drive University vehicle. Must participate in the DMV pull program.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,800 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.56 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
