Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is an anti-poverty organization working to end homelessness in the New York area by 2050. We operate over 60 programs across New York City, Northern New Jersey and Westchester County including emergency, transitional and permanent housing. Our services extend to families experiencing homelessness, survivors of domestic violence, people living with HIV/AIDS, veterans, youth aging out of foster care, adults with behavioral health or substance use needs, and others in need, including a special education preschool program.

We are in search of new talent in the following position...

Position: Director of Corporate & Community Engagement (Hybrid Remote)

Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director Corporate & Community Engagement will set the strategic direction and implement development strategies that enhance relationships with our donors, increase overall support across corporate and community stakeholders, and expand the donor base to support programmatic needs and campaign goals. The director works closely with the President and CEO, Board of Directors, Chief Development Officer, and other senior leaders to cultivate and steward relationships to build 360 partnerships with corporate, and community donors and prospects capable of making five, six and seven figure gifts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required with 7+ years of professional experience in managing relationships with major donors, event planning or fundraising operations. Familiarity with issues pertaining to homeless services, affordable housing, behavioral health and substance use disorders, economic empowerment, and intimate partner violence is a plus. Other relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities include:



  • Passion for anti-poverty work and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
  • Ability to cultivate and sustain positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Moves Management and Robust Donor Journey/Stewardship planning.
  • Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends in the non-profit sector.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated experience conveying complex concepts in a clear, persuasive, and succinct manner.
  • Strong organization and Project Management Skills



Responsibilities include:



  1. In partnership with the Chief Development Officer, lead and develop donor cultivation and stewardship plans to support a robust fundraising and engagement plan for corporate and community donors that is aligned with VOA-GNY's vision, strategic plan, and fundraising priorities.
  2. Lead and/or support various fundraising projects and initiatives such as special campaigns, Operation Backpack, Holiday Drives etc.
  3. Identify best in class workplace engagement and Employee Giving platforms and opportunities to raise VOA-GNY's visibility.
  4. Create and facilitate volunteer and recognition opportunities for targeted donors and donor groups.
  5. Lead corporate donor communications, creating a well-rounded donor stewardship plan to increase donor retention that also includes managing corporate and community volunteers.
  6. Develop and implement donor communication strategies, including calendars and timelines.
  7. Become an expert in describing the work of VOA-GNY and the experience of the clients we serve, getting to know staff members, programs, and clients in order to articulate the case for support.
  8. Collaborate in the planning of donor-related events, including cultivation and stewardship events, annual fundraiser events, and other fundraising activities.
