Overview

We can't do it without YOU!

Do you want to apply your experience, skills and education in a way that makes a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of our patients and their families? At Tennessee Cancer Specialists, it is the privilege of our employees to walk with our patients and their families as they move along the journey of fighting cancer. Whether you are working directly with patients in one of our clinics or in a support role, you are an important part of our mission to deliver the highest quality, compassionate care. Our 200+ employees make up the teams at our 16 different East Tennessee locations!

As a Patient Navigator Coordinator, you will assist our patients with discovering any barriers to care that may exist so they can understand and focus on the treatment needed for their specific condition.

Responsibilities

Here's what might happen on a typical day...

Your unique role on the Patient Navigation team gives you the opportunity to advocate for patients who really need you during a tough time in their lives. Your organization skills allow you to easily walk a patient through the navigation process, and your communication skills help you to stay on the same page with your Nurse Navigator regarding the patient's specific needs.

Your compassion and active listening skills often make you one of the go-to team members for our patients and their family members when questions or issues arise. You understand the importance of providing accurate information to our patients, and you do so by working seamlessly with other areas of the practice.

Experiences that matter...

  • In conversations with our patients, you will be a friendly and compassionate resource to our patients when completing the financial counseling process of discussing patient obligations and billing practices.
  • You have a basic understanding of our revenue cycle process which allows you to assist patients with insurance coverage questions.
  • In conversations with patients, coworkers and other professionals, you will provide excellent customer service by rolling out the red carpet to meet their needs through communicating respectfully and thoroughly listening to all shared details.
  • You understand the specific needs of your patients through the completion of psych/social assessments. From there, you work with many community support organizations to help assist our patients with their defined barriers to care.
  • Having the ability and drive to advocate for our patients allows you to maintain relationships with current foundations as well as seek out any other foundations in order to provide assistance for our patients.
  • Your go-getter work ethic will have you ready to jump in and help out with any additional tasks.

Qualifications

For your safety, keep this in mind:

  • This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Any lifting should be limited to 40 pounds or less.
  • You will need manual dexterity, proper hand-eye coordination, full range of motion to possibly assist with lifting patients, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

We feel this position requires these basics:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • You may or may not be bilingual with previous oncology/hematology experience, but either of those qualifications would be a major benefit to you in this position.
