The BNSF Railway Technology Services department drives innovation and efficiency by developing and maintaining advanced technological solutions across the network. This team ensures a robust IT infrastructure, supports critical applications, and enhances cybersecurity measures. Their expertise is essential in optimizing operations and enabling BNSF to deliver reliable, cutting-edge transportation services.

This is a full-time positionlocated in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Travel is minimal to none

This position will be responsible for overseeing delivery of outsourced Infrastructure services within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services organization in Technology Services Department utilizing technical and business expertise, and working closely with BNSF employees, contractors, and service provider.

Key responsibilities may include:

Work directly with service provider, application development teams, and business partners to gather requirements for new projects, assisting service provider with design and architecture, oversee contractual delivery of infrastructure, and ongoing support/maintenance of application support infrastructure

Oversee service provider delivery through monitoring of resource unit consumption and validation of reporting used for billing

Monitor contractual service provider delivery through Service Level Agreements.

Oversee and provide leadership in driving business value via efficient use of infrastructure resources through monitoring and ongoing evaluation of usage statistics and trending data

Partner with peer groups in TS Operations to assist service provider during outage and incident management situations to ensure timely service restoration and follow-up through the Problem Management Process to define root cause and action to mitigate future issues

Ensure service provider security and audit compliance per service contract

Responsible for service provider infrastructure inventory management, refresh cycle, and software currency. This includes working with the application development teams to ensure accurate updates to Planview CTM and service provider to ensure accurate reporting

Assist across BNSF groups and Cloud Service Providers with migration to cloud, and assist with development of long-term Cloud Strategy and governance

A heavy emphasis will be placed on technical leadership, project management, communication skills, data analysis, and organizational abilities. The position will meet with senior management, service providers, operations, application development, and business partners to ensure accurate project requirements gathering and quality service delivery while also managing themselves and others involved in projects.

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • Bachelors degree with preference in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or equivalent formal training, certifications or work experience.
  • Minimum 4 years work experience in an Information Technology environment
  • Highly proficient in infrastructure requirement gathering and documentation
  • Technically proficient in Mid-Tier Platforms (Linux/Unix/Windows/VMWare)
  • Ability to understand and interpret large/complex delivery contracts
  • Understand and measure Service Level Agreements.
  • Ability to gather/report/analyze infrastructure related performance/availability data and statistics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems preferred.
  • Cloud Service Provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) certification/training/fundamentals
  • Strong report writing and data analytic skills
  • Strong personal organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in groups or autonomously
