We are seeking a senior systems engineer that can direct the overall requirements, configuration management, system design, and development of the hardware and software for a component card that forms a key piece for a family of navigation avionics systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of hardware and software elements for this sub-system, from current prototype to production and deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

System Architecture: Develop and maintain sub-system architecture, including hardware and software components, for embedded cards within a larger avionics system.

Hardware Design: Collaborate with hardware engineers to define, design, and validate hardware components, such as FPGAs, microprocessors, and custom circuits.

Software Development: Collaborate with software leads driving the development and integration of embedded software, including device drivers, real-time operating systems, and application software.

System Integration: Lead integration efforts with hardware and software components into a cohesive sub-system and support integration efforts across the system, ensuring seamless operation and performance.

Testing and Verification: Coordinate with test lead to develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate system functionality, performance, and reliability.

Requirements Analysis: Maintain and improve upon the system requirements and detailed design specifications.

Risk Management: Identify and mitigate system risks through rigorous analysis and design reviews.

Documentation: Create clear and concise technical documentation, including system architecture, design specifications, and test reports.

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software engineers, and navigation experts, to achieve project goals.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Advanced degree (Master's in Systems Engineering or related field) preferred.

10+ years of experience in embedded systems engineering and avionics.

Experience with model-based design and simulation tools.

Strong understanding of hardware and software design principles for embedded systems.

Understanding of hardware description languages (VHDL or Verilog) and software languages (C/C++).

Experience/understanding with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools.

Familiarity with avionics standards and certification processes.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. ?

Desired Skills:

Experience with FPGA design and verification.

Knowledge of navigation and precision time.

Familiarity with DO-178B/C and other relevant industry standards.
