Description
POSITION: Youth Care Specialist

DEPARTMENT: Kansas Foster Care (Kansas City, KS)

Starting Salary: $17.00- $21.00 (Hourly)

(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

Full-Time: Monday-Friday 12pm - 9pm

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Youth Care Specialist will primarily be based out of the Wyandotte County office and focus on coordination, transportation, and at times supervision of Kansas foster care youth in transition from one placement to another. Support can happen at an office, in the community and/or a campus. Youth Care Specialists report to the Youth Care Manager and are responsible for assisting case management specialists with transportation, supervising youth in the office, while screening in for hospitalization and in various other situations. This position helps to develop trusting, nurturing, and supportive relationships with families through short and long-term intervention using various social work and educational methods, including individual, and/or group family support, and supervised visitation. The Youth Care Specialist will assist with the After-Hours Emergency Phone, triaging incoming calls, problem-solving, and making sure documentation is completed and entered prior to the end of the shift. The Youth Care Specialist prepares time-sensitive reports such as AWOL, critical, and significant incident reports per Cornerstones of Care policy and demonstrates awareness and understanding of the cultural and ethnic diversity of the children and families we serve and provide culturally sensitive services.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma/or GED and at least two years of experience working with youth. Preferred candidates will have a bachelor's degree and at least two years of work experience in the Child Welfare arena. PREFERRED: 1 year Kansas case management experience. Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver's license, proof of current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation.
