Description
POSITION: Family Finding Advocate

DEPARTMENT: Kansas Foster Care (Kansas City, KS)

Starting Salary: $43,888- $46,000 (Annually)

(Starting salary depends on education and experience)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Family Finding Advocate reports to the Family Finding Manager but enjoys a high degree of autonomy in conducting family finding efforts, support and engagement as required by contract/licensing/funding body/accreditation requirements. In The Family Finding Advocate will demonstrate creative search methods, genuine engagement practices, critical thinking skills, strong time management skills and excellent decision-making abilities. Using Signs of Safety and Family Finding approaches, the Family Finding Advocate will engage newly referred children and families to identify relatives and connected adults to serve as relative and/or kinship placements, as well as natural supports to the children.

QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a bachelor's degree in social work or other human service-related field (community counseling, human development, child and family development, applied family and youth studies, public health, health sciences, trauma studies, sociology/social services, substance abuse/addictions, education/early childhood, or psychology criminal justice, human services, education, counseling or psychology). Preferred: Master's degree in social work or other human service-related field and at least two years' experience in the child welfare area. Case management experience preferred and at least one year of work experience in the child welfare arena. Must be at least 21 years of age and pass background check, physical and drug screening. This position also requires a valid driver's license, proof of current vehicle insurance and reliable transportation.
