Summary:

The Specialist will provide Technical/Non-Technical support related to operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment as part of the System Reliability Group.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:



  • Provides Technical/Non-Technical support related to operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment as part of the System Reliability group. Types: Solar Turbines, GE Turbines, Cooper, Clark, Waukesha, White, Caterpillar.
  • Responsible for the setup and support of the Condition Monitoring Program
  • Provides assistance in setting up trend parameters and data interpretation for location personnel to monitor and improve equipment performance.
  • Provides periodic assessments for prevention of equipment failures.
  • Responsible for working with operations and Equipment Techs to develop work scopes for scheduled overhauls and submitting information to Operations.
  • Responsibility will include the development of O&M and Capital projects related to compression equipment to include: A.) Identification of Projects, B.) Project Justification, and Overhaul work scopes and overhaul coordination.
  • Administers and troubleshoots the databases required to provide the station performance benchmarks and operating statistics.
  • Assists in the completion of scheduled mechanical audits.
  • Assists with the identification and implementation of best practices.
  • Review, develop, implement and enforce mechanical operating procedures.
  • Work with vendors and contractors on warranty and equipment performance issues.
  • Conduct skill progression verification and Operator Qualification verification to employees in Division.
  • Provide feedback to Area Management on field team performance in the Mechanical Discipline


Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Required Education:



  • High school diploma or GED


Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
* The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
* The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
* The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience

Preferred Skills:



  • Possess a thorough knowledge of operations and maintenance of engines, gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors (high and low speed).
  • Above average hardware and software computer skills are necessary to support the equipment in the field that is being utilized to gather the information for trending evaluation.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and excellent human relations skills. In-depth knowledge of Company procedures and Industry-related safety standards, and applicable Federal and State regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience in administering Company-wide programs.
  • Above average analytical skills are needed to identify, evaluate machinery performance and condition levels utilizing the condition Monitoring System.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and be familiar with Operating, DOT and EPA Procedures, Engineering Standards, OSHA, and Safety practices and routine administrative duties.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Possess a desire to advance individual skills (Mechanical) as assigned/required by team within team defined deadlines
  • Personal skills necessary to maintain a good rapport with internal and external customers.


  • Engineering degree helpful but not required.
  • Mechanical skills required with multi-skilled background preferred.

  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
