Creighton University is seeking to hire an Instructional Designer II position.

This role provides pedagogical and instructional design consultation and support services for effectively developing and executing in-person, distance, and hybrid courses. Also provides support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of academic technologies including training, troubleshooting, and integrating them into instructional activities.

This position requires on-campus presence during scheduled student activities that require ID support. Full time presence may be required during the on-boarding phase to ensure effective integration with our University's culture and workflows. After successfully completing the onboarding process there is the possibility of working remotely up to two days per week. Remote work arrangements are subject to the approval of the managing supervisor and permitted or restricted at their discretion.

The remote work arrangement is contingent upon meeting performance expectations, demonstrating self-motivation, and maintaining effective communication with team members and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities



  • Work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and staff to create distance or hybrid courses, including transforming conventional courses to distance or hybrid modes of instruction.
  • Supports faculty use of the learning management system and other academic technologies to support on-ground courses and learning experiences.
  • Consult with faculty members the designer will identify and apply the appropriate blend of pedagogy and technology into course design, guide the selection and development of instructional strategies for the distance, hybrid, and on-ground teaching and learning environment, and recommend appropriate learning tools to achieve course objectives based on education research and best practices.
  • Provide expert consultation on design alternatives, and appropriately apply state-of-the-art synchronous and asynchronous distance instructional design models to courses.
  • Assist in the development of faculty workshops based on sound pedagogic principles, work independently and as a member of a team, establish positive working relationships with a wide range of people within an academic community.
  • Participate in relevant committees and task forces as requested, other duties as assigned.



Qualifications



  • MS or MA in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or Related field
  • 2+ years' related experience in academic learning environment. Prefer experience working with distance courses and/or providing front-line support for faculty using a learning management system
  • Knowledge of various operating systems
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and employ effective pedagogical techniques to achieve learning outcomes in the distance learning environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide basic troubleshooting support for faculty use of a learning management system and other instructional technologies
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and ability to develop and deliver training to individuals and groups in person and virtually
  • Exceptional English written and verbal communication skills, and interpersonal skills
