The mission of the Academic Integrity (AI) Office is to promote and support a culture of academic integrity in order to reinforce quality teaching and learning at UC San Diego, thus advancing the University's mission as a student-centered public research university. We do this through research-driven programming, policy management, and training and support services that improve the teaching and learning experiences of students (graduates and undergraduates) and educators (faculty, instructors and instructional assistants) across all general campus departments and degree programs at UC San Diego. In addition to holding over 2500 one-on-one appointments, hosting over 80 AI Reviews, educating around 800 students in our AI Training, and conducting multiple preventative education opportunities within the academic year, the Academic Integrity office also provides leadership on strategies and initiatives to support integrity and ethics (core UC San Diego principles) within the University's teaching and learning profile through integrity-related curricular innovations and partnerships with a wide array of departments and faculty. Using skills as an experienced professional, the Education Coordinator is independently responsible for the operation of UC San Diego's Integrity Mentorship Program (IMP), a program for students who are at-risk for suspension as a result of an academic integrity violation. The program's primary goal is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students for academic, personal and professional success with integrity. Since the IMP is an opportunity for a student to have their suspension cancelled, the Coordinator is an essential member of the overall student success initiative at UC San Diego. Under the direction of the Senior Education Coordinator (SEC), the Coordinator is responsible for managing, executing, assessing, and advancing a program that fosters student academic, personal and professional growth while sharpening their ethical decision-making abilities. The Coordinator accomplishes this through recruiting, screening, orienting and providing training to all incoming mentors, and providing ongoing support and supervision to mentors. The Coordinator ensures that mentees are matched to mentors, and acts as a referral point and will intervene in response to any issues that emerge in the program for the mentees or mentors. The Coordinator provides critical support to mentees to guide them towards success and the cancellation of their suspension. The Coordinator also works collaboratively with the other Education Coordinator and Senior Education Coordinator, and a wide variety of units and departments on campus, to lead or coordinate integrity and ethics educational workshops and presentations, including preventative education and the AI Training curriculum.
