DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the College Corps Institute Associate Director and work direction of Changemaker Institute Assistant Director, the Operations Specialist will provide support in the Changemaker Institute with office management, event planning, and assistance in the coordination of College Corps at UC San Diego.

The incumbent will be responsible for supporting efforts including: fiscal support, event and meeting coordination, recruitment and outreach, data and database management, and student onboarding/exiting, travel, and communication.

~The incumbent will be expected to be in-person for three days per week on UC San Diego's main and downtown campuses, with the option to work virtually two days per week. Support Changemaker Institute staff in planning and executing programming and events.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including proven ability to exercise tact, mature judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness. Ability to work as a team member to foster positive relationships.

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with travel policies and procedures and federal regulations related to domestic and international travel.

  • Knowledge of standard accounting/bookkeeping practices and internal control standards, with proven ability to recognize discrepancies/errors and take corrective action.

  • Advanced proven knowledge of and skill in using various computer software and database systems in a PC windows environment (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook mail, Internet, etc.).

  • Ability to be proactive, multi-task, establish priorities and use creativity in a fast-paced and changing environment with constant deadlines.

  • Verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Good communication skills and experience with coalition building, as this position requires plenty of coordination and time with a variety of stakeholders (students, staff, faculty, community partners).

  • Strong demonstrated ability to work independently and harmoniously as part of a team with frequent interruptions and to meet established deadlines; ability to identify issues needing referral to supervisor.

  • Dedication to creating a more just, sustainable, and inclusive world and supporting first-generation and low-income students.

  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures related to records retention and audit principals and standards regarding fiscal invoices and documents.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Overtime and weekends may be required.

  • This is a grant-funded position, with potential for renewal.

  • Mandated Reporter: This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 - $85,295 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.49 - $40.85

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
