Overview

The Director, Business Operations serves the lead for Clinical Operations, collaborating cross EA to oversee annual/quarterly/monthly financial planning/tracking, inclusive of annual FTE forecasting/tracking. In this role, the individual will also be responsible for setting the strategy for study budget management, inclsive of CRO and vendor costs, ensuring we have tight financial controls over our projects, managing the change order, and approval processes. This role is responsible for reporting, analytics, project management, and coordination required to drive the business to efficient and effective financial and resource management processes.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • In partnership with FP&A and Suppliers and Study Management, create accurate, transparent, and timely financial analyses to support Clinical Operations accruals; clearly articulate financial implications from variances between forecast and actuals and provide retrospective analysis as well as drive forward actions for key business stakeholders. Supports Clinical Development Expertise Areas as needed.
  • Lead and provide strategic direction for our financial models with suppliers, implementing models that support our transformation to a "hybrid" operational model.
  • Support Clinical Operations budget, forecast and long-term planning, decisions, and trade-offs providing expertise and oversight to ensure efficient business outcomes. Supports Clinical Development Expertise Areas as needed.
  • Complete all required variance analyses for projects. Identify risks in the project forecast and opportunities to improve revenue outlook. Communicate, document and manage these on an ongoing basis.
  • Responsible for review of transparency reporting provided by CRO to ensure alignment with operation plan for study.
  • Develop and deliver training to support effective financial management processes throughout the Clinical Operations organization. Supports Clinical Development Expertise Areas as needed.
  • FMV-process improvement and management of the approval process within Clinical Operations.
  • Financial Disclosure process improvement and end of study financial reconciliation.
  • Implement continuous improvement and maintain a focus on value-add services relating to resource planning and financial planning.
Qualifications
  • BA/ BS in Science, Finance or Accounting required, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of progressive Finance/Resourcing roles, with strong analytical and partnering track record
  • Strong experience in Pharma/CRO/Biotech, specifically with pricing models, supplier contracts and internal budget planning
