This position is based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Interns can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday) and work from home on other days The internship program is designed to give you an opportunity to complement your formal education with career-related experience and is open to current undergraduates, individuals starting their graduate degree in the fall and current graduate students. The internship will provide a stimulating and substantive work experience, coupled with an experience to expand your knowledge and understanding of Feeding America. The Opportunity
The Feeding America Supply Chain Department works with food and agricultural industry partners including retailers, manufacturers and farmers on food rescue, securing donations and making purchases to supply the Feeding America national network. The operations team processes all transactions, transportation and data tracking and reporting. This work is done by working closely with network members including regional cooperatives, Partner State Associations and Partner Food Banks to better understand network demand and capabilities. The internship will consist of three, 3-4 week projects that focus on national donor data, Marketplace change management, regional sourcing and sharing including support for protein pack room activities, and analyzing the opportunity to maximize the supply of donated products from U.S. ports. All projects will include deep interactions with subject matter experts and exposure to the strategic work that Feeding America supply chain staff lead. Duties will include attending meetings (virtual, hybrid and in person), analyzing and visualizing data, updating and modifying current documents and/or spreadsheets, updating contact and meeting information in Salesforce, drafting communications and using technology such as Microsoft Teams and Webex for collaboration.
