Job Description:

We are in search of a Senior Chemist to oversee the design and development of energetic materials. The ideal candidate will be able to lead complex chemical research, development, and analysis activities contributing to the success of IS4S's contract fulfilment to our customers. This role requires a leader with innovative approaches to safety and quality in energetics manufacturing. The ability to work with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, quality, and efficiency are critical.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead research initiatives in the field of energetics chemistry.
  2. Lead development initiatives for products and services deemed necessary to the mission.
  3. Perform high level chemical analyses, including quantitative and qualitative testing.
  4. Ensure compliance with safety protocols and manufacturing regulations for all research and development efforts.
  5. Provide expertise in analytical techniques and laboratory management.
  6. Mentor junior chemists and technicians on safety and efficiency while supporting and empowering them to assist in solving complex chemical issues.
  7. Take ownership of specific chemical research projects, ensuring timelines are met and objectives are achieved within budget and scope.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of OP-5: Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore.
  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Chemistry with 15+ years of experience.
  • Proficient in a wide range of analytical techniques and laboratory equipment.
  • Experience managing laboratory operations, including resource allocation, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a focus on innovative and practical solutions.
  • Minimum Security Clearance: SECRET; TS if necessary.



Desired Experience:

  • Proven success in energetic materials innovation.
  • Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Relevant certifications in laboratory safety, quality control, or process management.
  • Prior experience with DoD projects and customers.
