Job Description:

IS4S is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead our safety compliance efforts within energetic development and manufacturing sectors. The ideal candidate will also have experience with risk management efforts and a deep understanding of safety protocols within environments dealing with high-energy materials. The Senior Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust safety systems to ensure the protection of employees, facilities, and the environment while supporting the production and development of energetic products.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement safety standards in compliance with OP-5.
  2. Conduct audits and risk assessments to improve safety protocols.
  3. Coordinate safety training and emergency response strategies for staff.
  4. Lead root cause analysis of safety incidents, accidents, and near misses to develop and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  5. Establish and track key safety performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of safety programs.
  6. Oversee the selection, maintenance, and inspection of safety equipment and PPE required for high risk operations.
  7. Interface with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive safety practices.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of OP-5: Ammunition and Explosives Safety Ashore.
  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD with 15+ years in safety management.
  • In depth knowledge of safety regulations and standards for handling and processing energetic materials.
  • Experience conducting hazard analysis and developing safety mitigation strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing safety teams and driving safety first culture.
  • Experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Minimum Security Clearance: SECRET; TS if necessary.


Desired Experience:

  • Deep knowledge of safety standards in the energetics sector.
  • Proven experience in leadership roles coordinating safety across teams.
  • Professional certifications in safety/regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to adapt and innovate in a fast moving environment.
  • Prior experience in defense, aerospace, energetics, or explosives.
