Pay is depending on experience. Minimum is $26.47/hour

Position Summary

The Credit Analyst is responsible for spreading the financial statement information of borrowers/companies and industries, and for performing research/analysis related to projects such as industry studies, loan administration, basic financial analysis, and other duties as may be assigned by Management.

The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Gather and review routine credit information for loans.
  2. Spread financial/credit information.
  3. Analyze financial statements.
  4. Determine trends.
  5. Identify credit issues and key credit risks.
  6. Calculate cash flow and ability to service debt payments.
  7. Evaluate collateral values.
  8. Calculate financial ratios.
  9. Consult with Officers of Account to resolve questions.
  10. Conduct research on various credit related topics as assigned.
  11. Provide written analysis of the financial statements including global cash flow, debt service coverage, financial ratios and other complex financial topics unique to each customer.
  12. Monitor and follow-up on the receipt of financial statements for large borrowers.
  13. Provide support to officers of account in preparation of credit presentations to approval committees/or designated approver.
  14. Prepare various loan portfolio reporting.
  15. Prepare reports that include risks and concerns associated with borrowers.
  16. Compile data from credit histories and financial statements. Performs credit history investigations on new and existing customers with third party credit reports.
  17. Research payment issues.
  18. Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations while performing the functions of the position.
  19. Maintain customer confidence and protects the Bank by keeping information confidential.
  20. Assist lenders with underwriting, documenting and managing customer relationships.
  21. Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

Position Specific Responsibilities

Credit Analyst II

  • Analyze borrower information/financial statements, collateral, and tax returns to determine if credit meets credit quality standards.
  • Analyze customer financial data, credit worthiness, compare liquidity, profitability, and credit history. Generates and interprets financial ratios to evaluate financial risk.
  • Recommend credit decisions based on analysis.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of college level accounting classes required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and related work experience in loan production, loan servicing, or loan documentation may be considered.
  • Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.

Experience

Credit Analyst I

  • Financial institution experience preferred.

Credit Analyst II

  • Two years of credit analysis or underwriting experience required.

Knowledge & Communication Skills

  • Thorough working knowledge of corporate financial statements and commercial/corporate structure.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, ability to analyze business and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, and collateral.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to comprehend, analyze, and effectively communicate business memorandums, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with staff, and management both written and verbally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer service skills and communicate information in a positive and professional manger.
  • Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.

Analytical & Decision Making Skills

  • Analytical and problem solving skills required. Use logic and reasoning to analyze financial and credit information.
  • Ability to work under general direction from manager and complete work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Ability to set priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that requires attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be a critical thinker, detail oriented, and have the ability to develop and implement plans.

Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills

  • Ability to navigate through developed spreadsheets, databases and models used in balancing daily work.
  • Able to comprehend and respond to new software and program upgrades.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work is performed in a professional office environment.
