Grounds Attendant

Summary

Responsible for performing a combination of grounds maintenance duties, including landscaping, debris removal, and minor repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of litter, debris, and illegal signs from various locations, including public roadways, utility poles, medians, and right-of-ways.

• Safely operate equipment such as mowers, line trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, edgers, and other small tools.

• Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment as needed.

• Assist in general housekeeping of facilities and shop areas.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Operate riding lawnmowers and power washers to maintain landfill grounds and facilities.

• Perform traffic control and truck spotter duties as needed.

• Assist with maintaining landfill perimeter areas, including fence lines, slopes, and drainage areas.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

• No experience required.

• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

• Valid Class C Texas driver's license.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• The incumbent works in an outdoor environment and may be subjected to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, wetness, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting.

• Work involves physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift, push, and carry up to 50 pounds several times daily.
