Daikin Applied is seeking a Controls Engineer II who will design, develop, test and implement controls systems for Daikin's cutting-edge HVAC Equipment. Under general supervision, you will collaborate with project teams, design detailed controls systems, program control sequences and ensure systems operate efficiently and effectively to meet the environmental needs of various customers. Location: Hybrid, Staunton, VA

What you will do:



  • Develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity
  • Give advice, analyzes information, and serve as a reliable resource within a specific function within the organization
  • Participate as an engineering representative of controls in cross-functional product development initiatives
  • Evaluate, analyze, and make recommendations on products, designs, and cost improvements to improve the competitive position of the company
  • Support the planning and development of test programs for prototypes
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications
  • Assist in analyzing, evaluating, sourcing, and coordination of the procurement of new materials and components to support model changes
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend cost improvement ideas through product, vendor, and design changes
  • Perform technical analysis of competitive products
  • Provide support to sales and marketing on product presentations and customer literature
  • Provide support to manufacturing to implement controls systems into manufactured products

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree (Technical, Scientific, Engineering)
  • 4-6 years of related experience
  • Understanding of electrical schematics and other instrumentation used in the development of control systems
  • Proficient with fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, electrical and power measurements, and analog/digital data acquisition
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask & reprioritize tasks frequently
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Control Systems, or a related field
  • Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials
  • Understanding of HVAC equipment and components
  • Programming experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $72,000 - $117,200 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
