Description
The Senior Accountant maintains financial records including assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses, and other financial activities within the organization. Additionally, the Senior Accountant may support treasury and tax functions, assist with financial audits, oversee core banking system activities, and provide assistance to management and other business units.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, compile, and analyze complex general ledger accounting functions including journal entries and account reconciliations on a timely basis consistent with GAAP
  • Document financial transactions and reconciliations in compliance with GAAP and internal policies
  • Recommend, initiate and ensure financial discrepancies are resolved
  • Approve journal entries and account reconciliations prepared by others
  • Summarize the current financial status by collecting information to prepare balance sheets, income statements, financial disclosures, dashboards, call reports and other ad hoc reporting. Provide narrative for financial results
  • Analyze financial statement variances, provide variance commentary and recommend accounting corrections when identified. Participate and present variance explanations in financial statements close call
  • Partner with employees in other departments to resolve complex reconciling items, complicated technical accounting issues and deploying new products or processes
  • Initiate and coordinate system maintenance of core banking platforms, ERP modules (fixed assets, projects, accounts payable, procurement) and proper integration to the general ledger for financial transactions
  • Troubleshoot reconciling items to source systems or business process and work with upstream business departments to mitigate and prevent errors
  • Review and develop test plans supporting Oracle ERP and EPM environments updates
  • Implement new functionality offered within the Oracle environment
  • Work with Enterprise Solutions and Oracle to resolve issues and deploy new functionality
  • Lead projects and initiatives in partnership with management, as required
  • Participate in and/or lead cross functional departmental projects impacting accounting
  • Perform technical accounting or tax research and provide to management
  • Generate and interpret financial records and statements for management
  • Substantiate financial transactions by preparing audit support documents, including preparing complex financial statement footnotes and call report pages
  • Prepare tax returns and/or remittance for state and local taxes in compliance with federal or state requirements asassigned
  • Complete treasury operation activities, including reviewing daily cash position, initiating or approving wire transfers, security transactions, and cash orders
  • Mentor other Accountants on a day-to-day basis by answering questions and providing training
Experience and Education Requirement:
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in full-cycle accounting in a mid-to-large size organization, including experience with auditing and compliance concepts; public accounting experience is preferred
  • Experience in the financial services industry is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with audits and underlying business processes and economic trends
  • Strong business communication skills; able to write/speak clearly and professionally for a variety of audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully work on projects, analyze data, and/or develop processes in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to use data to provide insights and make business recommendations or process improvements
  • Understanding of data collection methodologies and business processes feeding to the general ledger
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to work independently or in a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in using technology to analyze data and accounting processes
  • Familiarity with Oracle Fusion ERP general ledger, ARCS automated reconciliation tool and automated reporting tools is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; advanced knowledge of Excel including pivot tables and formulas such as VLookup and Sumif
  • Certification/License: CPA is preferred
Location: Hillsboro, OR 97124 | (HYBRID)
Target Compensation in Hillsboro, OR: $92,000 - $101,000+ annual bonus
