Title: Ballistics Supervisor
Location:Independence, MO
Salary: $79,500 - $85,000
Schedule: 5 days a week - 8 hour shifts
Focus: The Ballistics Supervisor oversees all aspects of ammunition and ballistic testing operations to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role involves leading a team of technicians, optimizing testing processes, and maintaining facility and equipment readiness to support production goals.
Ballistics Supervisor Essential Job Functions:
- Direct ammunition product testing to ensure timely delivery, quality, and safety compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards.
- Lead personnel development, including employee training, recognition, corrective actions, and fostering a cooperative, engaged work culture.
- Resolve operational challenges by analyzing data, recommending actions, and advancing lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Oversee plant sustainment, modernization, and maintenance to optimize production efficiency, quality, and scheduling.
- Ensure the implementation of economical, safe, and reliable ballistics testing methods and processes.
Ballistics Supervisor Minimum Requirements:
- HS diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of three years recent related experience in leading a team and delivering results in a manufacturing or testing environment.
- Experience in ammunition manufacturing preferred.
- Superior analytical, organizational, problem-solving, leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), presentation and facilitation skills.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and work well under pressure.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
