Department Summary When you join our team, you will be doing meaningful work designing molecular diagnostic tests that enable diagnosis and management of human infectious diseases and emerging pandemic threats. As you collaborate with some of the best in the industry, you will make a huge difference in infectious disease diagnostics! In Infectious Diseases Research & Early Development, you will be involved in the design of new prototype qPCR tests. You may also perform next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments to characterize novel qPCR assay targets. You will conduct experiments, summarize experimental results, and review conclusions with your supervisor. With guidance, you will analyze and brainstorm alternative approaches to solve problems and find solutions. You will learn new skills while collaborating with your team and supervisor to design and develop new qPCR diagnostic assays. You are a graduate student with experience and/or interest in molecular biology and infectious diseases. You understand the theory and practical aspects of performing PCR assays and may have knowledge of infectious agents. You may have experience performing NGS or quantitative RT-PCR assays to detect microorganism infections. Most importantly, you are excited to learn as much as possible, and to apply that knowledge to develop new diagnostic tests! This internship position is located in Pleasanton CA, on-site. Experience with metagenomics sequencing (mNGS) may be helpful, but is not required. Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40-$45hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
