Electrical Designer - Mid Level (Hybrid)

Summary:

The person in this position will work with project teams to provide computer-aided drafting expertise using AutoCAD software. Typical duties include data collection, planning, and problem solving in the electrical engineering field.Responsibilities include drafting and design using CADD software. Project work will involve electrical power and control system design, equipment coordination, lighting products and systems, and electrical distribution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above

  • Familiarity with lighting products and systems

  • Strong understanding and design capabilities of electrical distribution systems 600V and lower

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency using current versions of AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word

  • Familiarity with electrical power and control symbols

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy environment that encourages self-initiative

  • A flexible working style and willingness to modify personal schedules when required to meet deadlines and client needs

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future

  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management and client management

  • Experience with power system modeling software such as SKM

  • Familiarity with construction management

  • Experience with conceptual design

  • Design experience with mining projects

A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Hibbing, Minnesota, office.

Compensation:

The anticipated base hourly range for this position is $32.00-$38.25/hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.Barr has a "no retained earnings" model and distributes all its profit to our employees through our bonus plan and ESOP.

NOTE: The position may involve field visits to client sites, including industrial processing facilities, power plants, renewable facilities, and other heavy industrial facilities. Appropriate safety training will be provided for the work at industrial sites.
