Tool Grinder (Internal) Chatsworth, CA ** This is an Internal position for current NHBB employees** Duties and Responsibilities: Repairs dies and tools when needed/ disassembles dies, jigs, tools and fixtures, reassembles repaired parts. Reads blueprints, sketches. Use machine tools such as lathes and grinders to produce metal parts. Set up and operate. Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces - monitor the feed and speed of machines. Turn, mill, drill, shape and grind machine parts to specifications - file, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit together properly. Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects - test completed tools and dies to ensure they meet specifications. Smooth and polish the surfaces of parts or products, tools and dies - present finished workpieces and make modifications as needed. Verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces. Inspects completed tools and dies for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality. Regularly tests all equipment, tools, and machines to ensure they are arranged and set properly and working efficiently. Support the retainer and shield press area. Requirements: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to safely and accurately operate all measuring and production equipment Working understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. Thorough understanding of metallic properties. Ability to work independently, and with engineers and machinists.
