The Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position. The successful applicant will be involved in research employing biochemical and/or biophysical approaches to study important topics in modern biology, such as protein/nucleic acid function and dynamics, metabolism, microbial biology, or cancer biology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biochemistry; sustain an active, independent research group; participate in committee and service work at the departmental and university levels; be an effective communicator; and exemplify academic and professional leadership. The appointment will begin in 2025.

The Columbia University Department of Biological Sciences is one of the leading biology departments in the world and offers many opportunities for faculty members to collaborate with colleagues around Columbia and at nearby institutions, including the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Irving Institute for Cancer Dynamics, the New York Structural Biology Center, the New York Genome Center, and the Columbia Data Science Institute. Additionally, New York City is home to other world-class biomedical institutions, such as NYU, Weill Cornell Medical Center, Rockefeller University, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Albert Einstein School of Medicine, CUNY ASRC, and others.

Applicants must have a PhD at the time of appointment.
