The Staff Associate at the Songtao Jia Laboratory plays a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth functioning of our laboratory operations, and is integral to supporting our research and ensuring the efficient execution of experiments and projects. This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator Songtao Jia. The Staff Associate I will provide support for experiments to examine the mechanism of epigenetic inheritance and parental histone segregation. List the specific duties of the position 1. The applicant will assist in the design experiments (20%) 2. The applicant will generate yeast strains (40%) 3. The applicant will perform heterochromatin inheritance assay (20%) 4. The applicant will assist with other works associated with lab maintenance (10%) 5. The applicant is also expected to present his work in the lab, within the university and at outside conferences (10%) MA in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology or other related areas in Biology Specific skills and/or knowledge required for the position: Molecular Biology, such as cloning, PCR, western Yeast genetics, such as strain construction, genotyping, genetic crosses.
