The Staff Associate at the Darcy B. Kelley Laboratory plays a pivotal role in facilitating the smooth functioning of our laboratory operations, and is integral to supporting our research and ensuring the efficient execution of experiments and projects. This position reports directly to the Principal Investigator Darcy Kelley. The Staff Associate will oversee various aspects of laboratory management, including inventory management, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety protocols. They will assist in experimental design, data collection, analysis, and will facilitate collaborations with researchers within Columbia University and worldwide. Current funding for research in the laboratory includes an NSF EDGE grant (total: $1,000,000.00 over 3yrs) to develop AAV vectors to manipulate native gene expression in amphibians (DB Kelley, PI)

Laboratory Operations Management (25%):

* Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations, ensuring adherence to standard protocols and safety regulations.

* Coordinate laboratory schedules to optimize resource utilization and accommodate research needs.

* Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment conducive to efficient research activities.

Research Support (25%):

* Collaborate with researchers to assist in experimental design, protocol development, and troubleshooting.

* Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation, contributing to research publications and presentations.

Compliance and Documentation (20%):

* Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies related to laboratory safety and research ethics.

* Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and inventory transactions.

* Facilitate training sessions on safety protocols and laboratory procedures for new lab members.

Inventory Management (15%):

* Manage inventory levels, monitor stock availability, and facilitate timely replenishment

BS or BS in Biology/Neuroscience/Psychobiology

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
