Columbia University's Sakp Sabanc Center for Turkish Studies invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship for the academic year 2025-26. The postdoctoral fellow will hold the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scholar. The fellowship is open to scholars in the humanities and social sciences studying any period within the confines of Turkish studies. The successful candidate is expected to develop an innovative research project that advances the field of Turkish studies. For the duration of their appointment, the fellow is expected to be in residence in New York City and be an active member of the Sakp Sabanc Center's intellectual community. The fellow is also expected to organize a workshop or panel on a subject related to their research. The cost of the organization of this event will be covered by the Sakp Sabanc Center within budgetary limits.

The fellowship competition is open to candidates who have received their Ph.D. degree in the humanities or social sciences after May 2022 and have written a dissertation on an aspect of Turkish Studies. The fellow cannot hold another scholarship, visiting, or employment position during the term of the fellowship. The fellow must have successfully defended and deposited their dissertation prior to the commencement of the appointment.

The fellowship cannot be deferred, and cannot be renewed for a second year.

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
