Overview
The Movable Bridge Business Unit is seeking Electrical Engineers with experience in Movable Bridge Design. Location:
- Mechanicsburg, PA
- Remote opportunities may be considered
What You'll Do
- Lead electrical design projects
- Design electrical control systems for manual, automatic, or remotely controlled movable bridge operations.
- Design power distribution systems for roadway lighting, transportation facility, and movable bridge projects.
- Develop details and wiring diagrams for various electrical components and systems.
- Perform field inspections and evaluations of movable bridge, roadway lighting, and transportation facility electrical systems and write reports based on findings.
- Assist with movable bridge electrical and control system start-up procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Registered PE in the State of residency
- Minimum 5 years electrical infrastructure design experience
- A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Engineering with a concentration in Electrical from an ABET accredited college or university.
- Experience working in a consultant engineering company
- A strong work ethic with the ability to mentor junior engineers
- Coursework in Electrical Power, Industrial Controls, and Electric Motors is a plus.
- Submit to and pass a security background check immediately after hiring for access to certain client facilities.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to size conductors, circuit breakers, transformers, and conduits for single and three phase circuits and perform voltage drop and fault current calculations.
- Familiarity with photometric lighting calculation software (Visual Lighting or AGI32).
- Working knowledge of CAD programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Experience with SKM Power Tools for electrical calculations and arc flash hazard analysis a plus.
- Physical capability to climb ladders, stairways, and perform work on walkways and platforms at high elevations on bridge superstructures during field assignments.
- Good command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills.

The Movable Bridge Unit focuses on the structural, mechanical, and electrical design of movable bridges of all types. Projects include new design of movable structures, structural, mechanical, and electrical inspection and rehabilitation of existing bridges. Our instrumentation group is housed in this unit and focuses on short term monitoring of bridges and other structures using a wide variety of gauges and instrumentation. Structural, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineers as well as CADD Technicians make up the staff of this unit.
