A Day in the Life of a Senior Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner at Hanson Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
- Lead technical tasks and support business development efforts for traffic engineering and transportation planning services in the South Florida market
- Deliver transportation planning and traffic engineering analysis, including PD&E and NEPA studies for FDOT and local government agencies
- Apply creative problem-solving skills to high-profile, technically challenging traffic and planning studies
- Develop concepts using modeling data, geometric design, and safety engineering principles
- Compose proposals and scope/fee estimates for transportation planning and traffic engineering projects
- Collaborate with other markets and regions to support diverse project needs
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Contribute to the continued technical advancement of Hanson's engineering practice
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, project teams, and stakeholders
- Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role: Skills:
- Experience with NEPA, FDOT PD&E process, and related federal/state environmental regulations
- Proficient in transportation/traffic design applications and software
- Strong understanding of geometric roadway design, stormwater/drainage, maintenance of traffic, utility coordination/design, and design management
- Ability to generate scope and fee estimates for complex, multi-discipline service agreements
- Ability to interpret project-level financial reports, billing, and accounts receivable procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Interest in continued learning and professional growth
- Comfortable interacting with clients, agencies, and contractors
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the transportation engineering field
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida
- Experience working with FDOT, municipal/local government standards, and roadway plans
- Experience on projects with complex geometric components
- Active involvement in technical or professional organizations is desirable
Salary Range: $115,000 - $166,000
