The Position:

The purpose of this position is to provide maintenance support to the City's Golf Course and residing facilities. This is accomplished by managing the turf and lawn, completing landscaping operations such as mowing, weed eating and edging, planting seeds, trees and other shrubbery, laying sod to ensure plant life, repairing park, field and golf course infrastructures and facilities when needed and preparing sports fields for play. Other duties may include cleaning and picking up debris, assisting with irrigation installations, repairing park playgrounds, performing pool maintenance, documenting work completed and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provide direction to other employees.

Essential Functions

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Performs landscaping duties at the City's Golf Course by mowing and edging, removing debris from walking areas, trimming trees and shrubbery, operating equipment, and various tools.
  • Ensures equipment and machinery are operating safely and correctly by performing preventative maintenance and identifying problems with equipment.
  • Maintains City facilities by inspecting structures, determining if problems exist, stocking supplies as necessary, and reporting maintenance performed.
  • Assists with irrigation installations and repairs, digging holes for accessibility and installation purposes, and retrieving the appropriate tools and equipment.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with no prior relevant experience.
Certification and Other Requirements
  • Valid Class C Drivers License
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
Overall Physical Strength Demands:
Heavy - Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull.

  • Ability to operate city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
