Chicago, IllinoisAdd to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Department: MED-Dermatology The Paller laboratory, focused on skin biology research at Northwestern University's School of Medicine in Chicago, invites applications for Research Technologist 2 position. Exciting lab working on the forefront of understanding communication among keratinocytes, sensory nerves, the immune system, and the vasculature in inflammatory skin disorders (such as psoriasis, eczema, diabetic wounds, and genetic skin disorders). This valued staff member would be in charge of our important animal program, caring for and generating transgenic and knockout mice, as well as models of type 2 diabetes and inflammatory skin diseases. We expect this team member to participate in the design and execution of research lab projects, particularly those that involve our mouse models. Would conduct experiments with these mice and analyze data, including related to our wound healing studies and testing of small molecule inhibitors and nanoparticles that regulate genes in skin. Ideally, this individual is curious and thinks about methods - reviewing and revising existing research methodologies and developing new methodologies. Importantly, we expect this team member to pay careful attention to detail, both in collecting results and ensuring overall lab compliance with all associated rules and regulations. There is a tremendous opportunity for learning new techniques, both related to mouse work and microscopy and, as time allows other bench-related techniques. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills. Please note: Largely will spend time in the animal care facility or in the laboratory; expect work largely during standard working hours, but occasional nights or weekends as project deadlines dictate Specific Responsibilities:
