Polysomnographic Technologist Assistant - Student

Job Summary

Role allows for team members with prior clinical experience to develop competency in and perform basic polysomnographic testing procedures as well as setting up and initiating all sleep related therapies. Testing modalities include but are not limited to PSG's (polysomnograms), pneumocardiograms, MSLT (multiple sleep latency tests), and MWT (multiple wakefulness tests). Works under direct supervision of a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in South Carolina and CRT or RRT credentialed by NBRC or credentialed by BRPT with RPSGT to perform polysomnographic procedures in accordance with the physician's order and departmental policy.

  • Performs sleep studies in accordance with physician's order, departmental policy and Medical Director's guidelines.

  • Participates in training program as established by the organization.

  • Adheres to department time and attendance standards.

  • Adheres to infection control practices.

  • Performs other duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience - Six (6) months direct patient care experience

In Lieu Of

  • One (1) year of postsecondary education may be considered in lieu of requirements above.

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • BLS

  • LLR Temporary exemption

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be computer literate with complete working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Windows. Above average clinical and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

  • Data entry skills

  • Mathematical skills

  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
