Description Location: NAS Patuxent River, MD Security Clearance Requirement: DoD Secret Telework Eligible? No, work will be performed 100% on-site. As the Avionics Systems Engineer, you will support work within NAVAIR's Airborne Strategic Command, Control and Communications Program Office, PMA-271. In this role, you will work closely with the E-6B Integrated Product Team (IPT) engineers to drive development, acquisition, certification, modernization, and sustainment of critical mission systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Research, evaluate, and support certification of avionics systems including SATCOM, HF, VLF, UHF, and IP Line-of-Sight for PMA-271 platforms throughout acquisition and sustainment lifecycles.
- Develop and implement cosite mitigation strategies and simultaneous operations (SIMOP) plans across multiple communication bands.
- Support avionics non-recurring engineering (NRE) initiatives for PMA-271 platforms.
- Develop and maintain Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) for certification of systems such as HF, COMSEC, and SATCOM.
- Coordinate and manage avionics certification efforts to ensure mission readiness and compliance.
- Review and contribute to requirements definitions, analysis, verification, certification, and architecture design activities.
- Oversee the creation and quality of engineering documentation and technical artifacts.
- Participate in Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events and Program Management Reviews (PMRs).
- Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies to translate customer requirements into practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Present technical updates and recommendations to stakeholders within the NAVAIR program office.

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Computer Science, or at least 5 years of relevant NAVAIR Systems Engineering experience within a NAVAIR Program Management Activity (PMA).
- 3-5 years of experience leading new development or modifications to existing mission avionics systems - from drafting Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and awarding development contracts, through Engineering Development, Review & Approval Process (EDRAP), to full flight clearance integration and production contract execution.
- Hands-on experience in the NAVAIR environment creating and maturing Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) through technical review and approval processes.

Salary Range:
- The estimated salary range for this position will be $120,000 - $160,000 annually, based on an individual's level of experience and skill set. It is our goal at ASEC to provide equitable compensation to all employees.
