The Position Job TitleHR Business Relations Partner Job Description

SUMMARY

The HR Business Relations Partner is responsible for serving as a strategic HR Partner to Lending and Retail Community Bank leadership in the DFW and Central Texas regions. This position provides support in all functional areas of Human Resources including Recruitment and Employment, Employee Relations, Performance Evaluations, Compensation Management and Benefits. Position assists in the development and implementation of Human Resources Policies along with compliance with applicable State and Federal employment law as needed.

Ability to travel to the Central Texas region (Austin and surrounding areas) for a minimum of one week per quarter is required.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Provides leadership, counsel, and support to managers and supervisors on policy interpretation and other employee relations matters, including, but not limited to: Hiring, On-Boarding, Performance Management, General Employee Relations matters, Terminations. A significant portion of the role involves handling Employee Relations matters.
  • Builds and develops relationships with Human Resources Functional Managers (HRFM) in assigned regions or business lines with the goal of being a resource for managers in all aspects of HR related duties.
  • Assists in administering Human Resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; Monitors policies and procedures and makes appropriate revisions to Employee Handbook.
  • Conducts objective internal investigations into general employment matters and complaints filed by employees.
  • Provides a wide variety of support to regions ensuring timely responses and superior customer service.
  • Participates in HR departmental goals, objectives, and projects to ensure an effective, sustainable, people strategy over the long-term.
  • Assists in communicating HR, Payroll and Benefit related information to staff in assigned region or business lines and delivers required HR related training.
  • Partners with managers in the areas of recruitment, interviewing, and hiring to ensure best fit. Participates in the interview process, conducts pre-employment screening, and prepares offer letters as needed.
  • Prepares timely and thorough responses to unemployment claims, providing supporting documentation as appropriate.
  • Monitors employee climate and keeps a pulse on it to identify issues/trends; counsels managers on identifying issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Participates in staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Assists in evaluation of data/metrics, reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals. Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Dresses professionally.
  • Recommends to supervisor possible methods to improve department.
  • Completes all required compliance exams on a yearly basis.
  • Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of Human Resources experience.
  • Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Banking experience preferred.

Technical/Functional Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration including employment laws and their application, especially Title VII, FMLA, FCA, FLSA, ADA, ERISA, HIPPA.
  • Strong leadership skills, exhibits sound and ethical judgment.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good problem-solving and decision making skills. Ability to make informed decisions based on limited fact and guidance.
  • Demonstrates good judgment and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to communicate well by all means of communication including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication.
