Description

As an Environmental Specialist, you will provide environmental consulting services that consist of environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation field activities, laboratory analytical data review, and report preparation to assist in evaluating and mitigating environmental risk for KLJ client projects. Specific duties may include:



  • Collecting soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and other media during environmental investigation and cleanup activities
  • Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Completing Limited Site Investigations and Remedial Investigations
  • Performing asbestos and regulated waste surveys
  • Supporting large scale construction monitoring/site cleanup projects for regulatory compliance
  • Providing environmental oversight and documentation of waste management and disposal activities
  • Preparing technical documents and/or reports


As an Environmental Specialist, you will be responsible for:



  • Interacting with clients or contractors and providing information as requested by the project manager
  • Contributing to meetings with stakeholders or clients and coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies as directed by project managers
  • Utilizing effective written and oral communication
  • Understanding federal, state, and local environmental regulatory policies and monitoring changes to environmental laws, regulations and guidelines
  • Understanding and following scope of services, project schedules and budgets
  • Conducting and leading the completion of field investigations and remediation activities
  • Independently conducting fieldwork and onsite field documentation
  • Collecting, evaluating, and interpretating environmental data
  • Accurately completing and documenting environmental activities and incorporating pertinent information into draft reports or permits


What You'll Need



  • Four-year degree in geology, engineering or an environmental-related field
  • Two to six years of relevant post education experience including environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation experience with a minimum of one year conducting construction monitoring/site assessment and cleanup or RAP implementation activities
  • Previous environmental field work experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate motorized vehicles
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask and work well in a team environment.
  • Must ensure compliance with KLJ safety and quality standards
  • Willingness to travel on occasions and work flexible hours as needed


Preferences:



  • Previous experience using GPS units and ArcGIS software
  • Familiar with field data and sample collection methods and procedures
  • Previous experience in soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and asbestos sampling or assessment
  • Previous experience with soil and groundwater field sampling equipment and calibration
  • Previous experience in Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, Brownfield redevelopment and construction monitoring
  • Knowledge and experience with Minnesota environmental regulations including MPCA and MDH guidance documents
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Minnesota Asbestos Inspector certification
  • Minnesota Asbestos Supervisor certification
