Shipboard Logistician, Junior (Navy)

THOR Solutions is actively seeking a junior-level Logistician with U.S. Navy shipboard experience to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval shipboard elevator/conveyor systems at theMid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC)in Norfolk, VA. An ideal candidate will have completed at least one shipboard tour in a logistics, parts, or supply-related role.

Typical Responsibilities:
  • Provide Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for Cargo/Weapons Elevators, Aircraft Elevators, Deck Edge Doors, Hanger Bay Divisional Doors, Vertical Package Conveyors and other assigned equipment.
  • Accompany elevator assessors aboard U.S. Navy ships and confirm that shipboard elevator/conveyor configurations match technical documentation.
  • Complete material readiness assessment reports as defined by the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM), Vol. IV, Chapter 8.

Location:Onsite at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.

Typical Physical Activity:Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required:This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (highly preferred); OR be eligible for a new Secret security clearance prior to start.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent, applicable military "A" or "C" school, or other relevant vocational training.
  • At least three (3) years of recent, relevant experience with U.S. Navy shipboard Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) for Cargo/Weapons Elevators, Aircraft Elevators, Deck Edge Doors, Hanger Bay Divisional Doors, Vertical Package Conveyors and other assigned equipment.
    • Ideal experience includes at least one shipboard tour, preferably on an amphib, and/or a machinist mate parts PO.
  • Be familiar with elevator, door, and conveyor terminologies and configurations.
  • Proficient with common productivity software, such as the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication skills.
