Position Summary:

The Wernimont Lab at the University of Minnesota is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our research team focused on placenta biology. Our lab investigates the mechanisms underlying placental development and function, with an emphasis on maternal-fetal health. This position provides an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in reproductive and developmental biology. Key Responsibilities:
* Design and execute experiments to investigate key aspects of placenta biology.
* Utilize molecular, cellular, and bioinformatics approaches to analyze placental structure and function.
* Develop and apply novel techniques to study trophoblast differentiation, mitochondrial function, and nutrient transport.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
* Analyze, interpret, and present data at scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.
* Mentor graduate and undergraduate students as part of the lab's training mission.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in molecular biosciences, cellular biology, developmental biology, physiology, genetics, or a related field.
* Strong background in cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and/or bioinformatics.
* Experience with placental biology, trophoblast research, or pregnancy-related disorders is preferred.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with next-generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, or imaging techniques.
* Proficiency in computational biology tools for transcriptomic and genomic data analysis.
* Familiarity with animal models of pregnancy or human placental tissue and orgnaoid studies.
* Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed publications.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008-$66,492; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
