Post-Doctoral Associate - Quantum Materials (Greven)

The Greven group in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota/Twin Cities invites applications for a post-doctoral associate position.
The Greven research group investigates the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of select quantum materials. This materials class embodies many of the most fundamental contemporary questions pertaining to the quantum behavior of interacting electrons. Research includes bulk single crystal growth and characterization, neutron and synchrotron x-ray scattering, as well as charge transport and thermodynamic measurements.
We anticipate that the position will be for two years; the initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility to extend to a second year based on satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and the availability of funding.

JOB DUTIES:
60% Performance of experiments
20% Data Analysis
20% Research Communication, Lab Maintenance and Training
Prepare and publish research articles.
Disseminate the research results via participation in conferences and workshops.
Help ensure that Professor Greven's lab is run properly.
Mentor students in Professor Greven's group.
Other duties of a similar scope, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants with a doctorate in physics (subfield: experimental condensed matter physics) will be considered. Experience with at least one of these experimental techniques: neutron scattering; photon science (X-ray scattering, Raman scattering, optical spectroscopy, photoemission spectroscopy); low-temperature charge transport; crystal growth/characterization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong research background in quantum materials.

Pay Range: $61,800 to $65,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
