Overview

The Electronics Systems Engineer provides technical, structural, organizational, and project leadership throughout the entire product development lifecycle to ensure successful production qualification of a given program. This role is responsible for coordinating, developing, and maintaining all requirements, architecture, and verification tasks on assigned programs. The Systems Engineer works collaboratively with Project Engineers and Design Engineers to ensure all contractual elements of a given program are satisfied and to help ensure the defined project scope is fully traceable, tracked, and maintained throughout the development process.

An ideal candidate applies their technical knowledge and structured project development techniques to leverage their formal education, technical training, supporting skill sets, and prior work experience to continuously reduce project risks throughout execution. This position is expected to operate collaboratively with some management oversight as an individual contributor, as a technical consultant, as a requirements champion, and as systems development lead for other engineering staff. This is an early to mid-career level position.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, and mentor development engineers in all systems engineering activities on projects.
  • Develop and validate requirements from customers (internal or external).
  • Parse project documents and identify and extract traceable program, system, hardware, and software requirements.
  • Develop requirement cross reference matrices, link acceptance test procedures, and draft rationale artifacts to satisfy contract requirements through verification and delivery.
  • Isolate system and application use-cases and directly support the development of qualification and validation plans.
  • Directly support the creation of system architectures, logic architectures, state diagrams, acceptance test procedures, quality inspection procedures, operational models, and other related and supporting deliverables, artifacts, and documentation.
  • Directly support risk reduction planning, maintain decision matrixes, journalize development activities, and secure project artifacts using designated enterprise database tools and storage systems.
  • Lead meetings onsite, in-person, and remotely with various video conferencing tools.
  • Perform related or other supporting engineering work assignments as business needs require.
  • Travel infrequently to off-site locations as needed (0-10%).

Salary Range min/max: Systems Engineer III $98,303.64 - $147,455.47 Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.


Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • Five (5) years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • Two (2) years of experience with promary project development documents/artifacts and formal reviews
  • Five (5) years of experience extracting, writing, capturing, and validating requirement statements.
  • Five (5) years of experience with interpretation of Government specifications and regulations.
  • Experience working in a Requirements Management tool (e.g. DOORS).
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and 3+ years of applicable experience
  • Working knowledge of electronics systems and electronics manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of Experience with DOORS NextGen.
  • 2+ years of Experience with Cameo or similar model-based system engineering (MBSE) tool.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio.
  • Ability to independently operate standard office technology.
  • Comfortable in a public speaking environment.
  • Self-directed functional task management and strong attention to detail.
  • Experience operating within stage-gate, structured product development environments.
  • Experience effectively and professionally interfacing with staff, customers, suppliers, and senior staff.
  • Proficiently write and verbally communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
