Maintenance Electrical Engineer

Huntsman is seeking a Maintenance Electrical Engineer supporting the Performance Products Division located in Conroe, Texas. This position will report to the Team Lead-Maintenance/Reliability Engineering.

Job Scope

This position is responsible for daily maintenance Electrical/Instrument support of the plant including 480V/4160V systems, UPS systems, field instrumentation, and other related automation equipment. The maintenance engineer will partner with and support operations through reactive and proactive means to reduce and/or eliminate production losses, ensure equipment availability is maximized, and promote plant objectives in the areas of Environmental Health and Safety and Process Safety Management (PSM).

In summary, as the Maintenance Electrical Engineer, you will:

• Assists with PSM compliance as it relates to electrical/instrument equipment integrity, engineering design, process safety information, maintenance related procedures and all applicable document retention requirements.
• Makes periodic inspections of all electrical/instrument equipment within assigned units and assists in the maintenance, modification, or improvement of said equipment including proper documentation and regulatory change management. (MOC activities)
• Responsible for proper maintenance and engineering repair recommendations for all plant electrical (480V/4160V), instrument, and automated equipment within the areas assigned.
• Provides the production and process engineering departments with technical support concerning the maintenance and proper operation of electrical/instrument equipment within the areas assigned.
• Serves as an engineering resource when required for unit inspections and maintenance turnarounds.
• Leads incident investigations for electrical and instrument equipment failures. Reports findings and recommended action items to management when required.
• Project manager for equipment repairs and new equipment installations.
• Responsible for engineering and procurement specifications for equipment within the units assigned.
• Supports capital project design and procurement from a RAMS2 (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety and Sustainability) perspective.
• Occasionally steps up as a project lead for resolving unusual plant downtime situations (i.e., following a critical substation repair), communicating with 3rd party vendors, and reporting status to the plant's leadership team.

Other general responsibilities:

• Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
• Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
• Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
• Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
• Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.
• Keeps current with technical developments in his/her respective field through outside study, trade journals, technical societies, and seminars.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10-years+ of electrical engineering experience in a petrochemical or refining facility - REQUIRED.

Specific Skills and Knowledge

• Possess a good working knowledge of instrument and electrical systems
• Maintain technical knowledge to provide guidance to electricians/instrument technicians
• Experienced in troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment
• SAP familiarity is desired
• Foxboro DCS and Triconex PLC experience is desired
• Electrical system experience with 480V and 4160V systems preferred
• Knowledge in Reliability Centered Maintenance or some form of Asset Management Plan Development is desired.
• Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Professional Engineering License a plus.
