Req#:650900 Network Technician 100% On-Site Monday-Friday (8am-4:30pm) The Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center 4940 Eastern Avenue Baltimore, MD 21224 General Position Summary: With guidance and direction, diagnose and troubleshoot basic network, device, and data communications problems, install and replace network hardware, software and cabling, diagnose basic problems, perform and verify basic switch configuration tasks. May participate and contribute in technical discussions that involve basic infrastructure enhancements. Under guidance, interface with customers to understand their needs and articulate those needs to others. This position is also responsible for the installation, maintenance, ongoing technical support and administration of the organizations videoconference network, audio visual and satellite TV systems. Job Scope/Complexity: Position is responsible for providing basic data & voice connectivity and troubleshooting device issues for customers throughout the Johns Hopkins enterprise. Job complexity includes basic network switch/router configurations/installations, printer replacement, phone/handset replacement, fixing data/voice jack issues, patching data cables, and interfacing with customers to understand needs. Typically, this job is focused on a primary Johns Hopkins campus; however this position is expected to travel throughout Maryland/DC to cover any Johns Hopkins location as required. Job Responsibilities: The responsibilities listed below are typical examples of the work performed by this position. Not all duties assigned to this position are included, nor is it expected that everyone in this position will be assigned every job responsibility. *The Network Support team receives trouble tickets and service requests from across the organization. They support East Baltimore, Bayview, all Maryland/DC/VA off campus locations, JHCP clinical locations, as well as home users, and affiliate offices. This includes over 60 off campus locations from Fells Point to Springfield, VA. *Problem calls are wide ranging in scope and difficulty. The group handles connectivity issues for clinical care components such as scanners, portable computers, clinical workstations, radiology devices, tablets, pagers, security cameras, etc. They also handle less critical networked devices such as office computers, copiers, printers, cash registers, and parking gates. *Service request work also covers this geographic region, and diversity of connectivity. Simple connection requests, to major clinical construction projects, with several hundred devices are common. Technical staff are required to have knowledge of a wide range of devices, and connectivity methods, as well as network hardware. With over 500 network closets supported, installations and upgrades are consistently on the work schedule. The team is required to provide support 24x7 on-site support for all hospital operations. Required Education: High School Diploma/GED. Licensure/Certification - Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred Equivalency Formula: JHH: Related experience beyond minimum training experience qualifications may substitute for formal education requirement on a two years experience-for-one year education basis Required Experience: Two years of related experience. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA's):
Salary Range: Minimum 19.91 per hour - Maximum 34.84 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
