Description

American Specialty Health Incorporated is seeking a Senior Business Analyst I - EDI to join our Information Technology department. This position will be responsible for working with the business owners, IT managers, and developers to gather business requirements and technical specification related to the implementation of new transactions or changes to transactions along. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business owners to gain in-depth understanding of the business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operate to ensure the right solutions are built by the engineering teams.

Salary Range:

American Specialty Health complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidate's qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $69,200 to $90,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range.

Remote Worker Considerations:

Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment. This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed).

Responsibilities

  • Develops and prepares system specifications for assigned applications, parallel to overall business strategies for implementation by Information Technology.
  • Recognizes unique or problem situations within areas of assigned responsibility. Researches and formulates solutions in conjunction with Manager.
  • Documents system bugs, errors and solutions.
  • Assists with implementation testing.
  • Coordinates testing between end-users, business owners, and development team.
  • Oversees the testing and user acceptance of development.
  • Creates test cases for use in the QA phase of development.
  • Informs the necessary staff of system enhancements.
  • Maintains working knowledge in areas of assigned responsibility for use in the development of system enhancements and reporting requirements.
  • Build strong cross-team relationships to support knowledge sharing during large projects with multiple team dependencies.
  • Prepares, analyzes and documents reports and provides feedback to Manager.
  • Runs database queries on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for the preparation and delivery of regular, timely reports for other departments and clients.
  • Coordinates projects under assigned area of responsibility and provides feedback to Manager.
  • Attends meetings and coordinates activities and preparation of related documents.
  • Responds to calls, correspondence, and email as directed.
  • Interacts with IT management and other staff to provide or obtain information and to facilitate group projects.
  • Maintains follow up to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments.
  • Prepares spreadsheets, memos, letters, reports, binders, manuals and other documents.
  • May serve on committees, workgroups, and project teams as needed.
  • Provides Manager with frequent or daily progress updates.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all sensitive business information at all times.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business, or equivalent experience. If equivalent experience, high school diploma required.
  • 3-5 years of experience gathering/documenting business requirements and translating to technical specifications.
  • 3 plus years of IT General knowledge of healthcare operations, payer business processes and/or provider and EDI infrastructures.
  • Working experience with HIPAA EDI X12s including transaction sets: Claims submission (837); Claims payment (835); Enrollment (834); Eligibility inquiry (270); Eligibility response (271); Claim status request (276); Claim status response (277).
  • 3 plus Years SQL Server experience writing queries.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps desired.
  • Experience supporting multiple enterprise applications and working with multiple teams to identify dependencies.
  • Experience in a managed health plan helpful but not required.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to create business and system process diagrams.

Ability to speak, see and hear other personnel and/or objects. Ability to communicate both in verbal and written form. Ability to travel within the facility. Capable of using a telephone and computer keyboard. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
