Primary Function: The Spartan Cares social work intern provides information, referral, and case management for students facing non-academic challenges that impact academic performance. The intern will work closely with students who request assistance with these challenges to develop an educational plan and coordinate college and community support services to ensure that students follow through and complete their academic goals. The social work interns will work with the Basic Needs Director and Associate Dean of Student Services, Pocono to track and assess data in order to evaluate student and program success.

Responsibilities: (1) Identify non-academic needs of students and refer to college and community resources (2) Monitor students' academic and non-academic progress, (3) Conduct Basic Needs Assessment (4), Compile and keep current information on available college and community resources, (5) Maintain data entry and case management notes for continuity of service and to support grant requests, (6) Communicate and collaborate with college staff, (7) Meet Core Competencies and responsibilities as directed by NASW and the Code of Ethics

Organizational Relationships: Responsible to the Basic Needs Specialist and Associate Dean of Student Services, Pocono, (2) Relate to Field Placement Coordinator of home college/university

Qualifications: (1) Enrolled in a Council on Social Work Education accredited BSW or MSW program with good standing, (2) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, (3) Understanding of ecological systems and working with diverse populations, (4) Ability to advocate for others, (5) Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with others
